How IPOB/ESN were used by the police to assassinate two Imo monarchs.
Imo Police Commissioner Rabiu Hussaini claimed on Wednesday that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) were to blame for the deaths of two traditional rulers in the state's Njaba council area on Tuesday.
In a statement issued by Police spokesman Michael Abattam, he stated that his command received information on Tuesday around 3 p.m. that some hoodlums suspected to be IPOB/ESN members were attacking the venue where the transitional chairman of Njaba local government was meeting with some traditional rulers.
The police chief explained that he immediately dispatched the Command's tactical teams, which included Special Forces and Rapid Response Squadrons.
Unfortunately, he stated that before the police arrived, the hoodlums had fled the scene after killing the two monarchs.
He revealed that the Transitional Chairman of Njaba Local Government, Hon. Emeka Ihenacho, had invited 15 traditional rulers of Njaba communities to a meeting without informing the police or other security agencies.
"While the meeting was in session, armed bandits suspected of being IPOB/ESN members arrived and began shooting at them indiscriminately, after which they fled into the bush."
"Unfortunately, two traditional rulers, HRH Eze S. C Osunwa of Ihebinowere Autonomous Community and HRH Eze Barr A. E Durueburuo of Okwudor Autonomous Community, were killed in the attack, while HRH Eze A. N Onyeka (JP) of Nkume Autonomous Community was injured by gunshots."
He went on to say that since the police station in the area was destroyed by some thugs, the Command had only sent out a vehicular patrol to help with crime prevention.
Two police officers were killed when the Njaba police station was attacked and burned down by hoodlums suspected of belonging to the IPOB/ESN terror groups.
"As a result, the command was forced to dispatch police officers to the area on vehicular patrols to assist in the prevention of crimes and criminalities." awaiting the construction of a new police station
"The Command is exploring all avenues possible to ensure that the fleeing bandits are arrested and prosecuted," he says.
