Crisis: Ex-Kano governor Shekarau vows not to leave the APC
Ibrahim Shekarau
Ibrahim Shekarau, the former governor of Kano State and senator representing Kano Central Senatorial Zone, has vowed to stay in the All Progressives Congress and support the party's newly-elected factional leaders led by Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Danzago.
On Wednesday, Shekarau made the remark in Hausa on his official Facebook page.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to update our friends and associates on the current state of our party, the APC, in Kano State."
"I, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, led some elected National Assembly members in filing a complaint with the APC National Headquarters about how the party is run without involving us in the state."
"We were elected, and our constituents have the right to know what is going on in the party's administration." We have already sent in our complaint, which was accepted. We are hopeful that the problem will be resolved.
"I want to assure our people that we will remain in APC indefinitely." We have been patient, but we will not be fooled because we will not listen to anyone other than the people at the national headquarters where we forwarded our complaint.
"I want to state unequivocally that in Kano State, we only recognized Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago as the elected APC chairman."
"We pray to God to give him the strength and wisdom to guide the party's leadership." We also ask God to guide the party's other 35 elected officials."
